School is back in session. Thank you sweet lord. Things were getting testy around the dojo. Too much free time for some, too much manual labor for others. We all love school, even little Eva. We get to ride the bus, get in line, play at recess, and even do some straight up learning. Unfortunately, we are struggling through the great drought of 2008. I saw a cactus growing in the yard. And a cow skull. Weird.
Shot outs:
Best of luck to "Crimeboss" Woody who starts college this week. Enjoy it brother. My advice: get some overalls so you fit in down there. And maybe a pet hog.
Best of luck also to Pete "the Pooter" as he attempts to become a Master of something or other. You can do it my man.

Breaking News: Rain at the Beach
It happens every trip - rain. According to weatherman, this is a very unusual non-tropical low. Whatever. It's pretty wet, and pretty windy. I went for a run this morning - I thought it was my typical 20 mile jaunt, but when I got back I found out I had only been gone for 30 minutes. So maybe the wind held me back to only 15 miles.
The rain is not all bad. It's good to have a day to relax, and peel. But to be honest, we're going a little stir crazy. There have been some tears, some yelling, and at least one pop tart induced breakdown. And the kids are pretty stir crazy too. So, we'll fall back on happier times with some photos from yesterday. Hopefully the rest of the week is clear and sunny.

Cold Chillin
It's August. It's hot and dry at the Woody Dojo homebase. So we decided to retreat to the beach for the week. So far so good, although a sandy baby is even less happy than you would have thought. And one of our number, one who is unable to keep his mouth closed when in the water, learned the hard lesson that salt water tastes pretty bad. Here is an excerpt of his thoughts:
P: Why does the water taste awful?
M: Because the ocean is made of salt water.
P: What about Pepper Water?
At any rate, we are cold chillin: building sandcastles, boogy boarding, watching some olympics (men's field hockey? who knew?), playing some monopoly, etc. Pictures to follow.
